Ingredients

  • 500 g Turkey Mince
  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 Bell Pepper
  • 1 Zucchini
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Ground Cumin
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

Heat the Pan:

  • Start by heating 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. This will help keep the turkey mince moist and prevent it from sticking to the pan.

Cook the Aromatics:

  • Add 1 finely chopped onion to the pan and sautĂ© for about 3-4 minutes, or until softened and translucent. This will create a rich, flavorful base for your turkey mince.
  • Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1 chopped bell pepper to the mix. Stir frequently for about 1-2 minutes, until the garlic is fragrant and the bell pepper begins to soften.

Brown the Turkey Mince:

  • Add 500g (1 lb) of turkey mince to the pan and use a spatula to break it into smaller pieces as it cooks. Allow it to cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the turkey is browned and cooked through. Since turkey mince is lean, be mindful not to overcook it, as it can become dry.
  • Tip: If your turkey releases excess liquid, simply drain it off to ensure your dish stays nice and savory.

Seasoning Time:

  • Sprinkle in 1 tsp of paprika, 1 tsp of ground cumin, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir thoroughly to coat the turkey evenly with the spices. These seasonings will add warmth and depth to the dish, enhancing the natural flavors of the turkey.

Add Zucchini and Simmer:

  • Finally, stir in the grated or finely chopped zucchini. The zucchini adds moisture and a subtle sweetness to the dish while boosting its nutritional value. Let everything simmer for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the zucchini to soften and absorb all the delicious flavors.

Taste and Adjust:

  • Give the dish a taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you like it spicier, feel free to add a pinch of chili flakes or cayenne pepper to give it a kick.
